Logo Use Policy

Brand NSA: National Speakers Association Logo Use Policy

Tout your affiliation with NSA and demonstrate your commitment to professionalism!

The National Speakers Association (NSA) developed a logo designed to project a professional image and create instant brand recognition for NSA. We encourage the use of the appropriate logo variation on everything from letterhead and business cards to marketing materials and Web sites. This policy provides guidelines for proper and acceptable use of the NSA logo to preserve its integrity and the NSA brand. This policy supercedes all previous logo standard manuals or policy.

The Basics: The NSA National Logo

Below, you will find standards for NSA's registered logo. Official logo variations have been developed for use by individuals and groups affiliated with the Association. These basic standards also apply to the logo variations.

NSA Logo Elements

The NSA acronym is set large and colored black. The font is Bitstream's "Normande." A ball microphone and cable shape intersects the large N and S at a 30: angle. Below the acronym, there is a rule and a line of type, "National Speakers Association." This text is set in Futura Bold Condensed.

Quality of Reproduction and Format

Any reproduction of the logo or official logo variations must be true to the original in terms of relative size, shape, placement and completeness of the letters and symbols. No additions, deletions, substitutions or modifications of the logo or official logo variations are permitted. It is not permitted to compress, extend, slant, distort or alter the existing relationship of the combined elements.

To preserve the integrity of the logos, all reproduction must be made from high-resolution files available for download from nsaspeaker.org or e-mailed from NSA. Care should be taken to ensure the quality of all printed material bearing the NSA logo or official logo variations.

It is okay to use only the NSA acronym with the microphone on small published materials if the words "National Speakers Association" will be too small to be discernable. This is also the case for embroidery of the logo on apparel and accessories.

The NSA graphic design department has discretion to use the logos in differing treatments. Those used that vary from these standards may not be reproduced or used as examples by chapters, members or outside parties without approval from NSA.

Preferred Color Identity

The NSA logo's preferred colors are black and medium blue. The PMS (PANTONE) color for the blue is 285. For the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) process, the required screen mix for the blue is 91% cyan and 43% magenta.

Federal Registration Mark

Because the logo is a federally registered trademark, it may never be reproduced without the symbol ..

NSA is the owner of this logo, which is registered as a trademark and is thus protected by federal law from improper use or unauthorized alteration. NSA has the sole authority to dictate the terms of usage of its logo.

The NSA National Logo may not be used by NSA chapters, supplier partners, members or outside parties without prior written approval from NSA. Official logo variations have also been developed for use by individuals and groups affiliated with the Association.

The NSA Member Logo

The NSA logo is recognized as an affirmation that you are a qualified member of the National Speakers Association. We encourage individual members in good standing to use the NSA Member Logo on their personalized letterhead, business cards, marketing materials, publications, Web sites and so on. Display it with pride, and please use it correctly.

NSA Member Logo Elements

The Member Logo is a standard NSA logo with "Member" added to the top in Futura Extra Bold Condensed. The microphone shape is tinted 25% gray but may be printed in PMS 285 if desired. The microphone shape must overlap the "B" in "Member." Minimum size will be 3/8" wide (.375"). The "National Speakers Association" line on the bottom may be omitted at that size.

A few things to note:

  • Only NSA members in good standing may use the NSA Member Logo
  • Honorary degrees and degrees from institutions not recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation may not be used with the member's name on any materials that display the NSA Member Logo.
  • If an individual member of NSA is affiliated with a company or organization, it must be clear that the individual, not the company or organization, is a member.
  • The NSA Member Logo may not be used as a business logo, or be incorporated into a business logo.
  • If membership expires or is revoked, the logo must be removed from all promotional materials within 30 days.
  • There are no color restrictions for the NSA Member Logo, as long as the logo remains easily identifiable.

    "One NSA":

An individualized logo variation has been created for chapters for use at the chapter's discretion. Chapters are not required to use this logo variation. The NSA design department will provide art with each chapter's name. There are no color restrictions for the NSA Chapter Logo, as long as the logo remains easily identifiable.

    NSA Chapter Logo Elements

The Chapter Logo is an NSA logo inside of an outlined rectangle. The microphone shape is tinted 15% gray and outlined in black. "National Speakers Association" appears on top of the logo justified to the ends of the rectangle and set in Futura Condensed. The name of the chapter-less "NSA/"-is set at the bottom in Futura Extra Bold Condensed. Minimum size will be 1" wide and the logo must appear in its entirety.

Chapter Use of the NSA National Logo

NSA policy requires that chapter use of the NSA National Registered Logo must be approved by NSA headquarters. The NSA logo may not be utilized by any chapter in a manner that would tend to confuse or mislead a recipient into thinking a document bearing the logo is from NSA headquarters. Exception: NSA chapters may use the NSA National Logo on their Web site. If the NSA National Logo is used, it must link to the NSA Web site. HTML code to link the NSA logo to nsaspeaker.org is available on request.

Guidelines for Chapters Designing Their Own Logos

NSA policy requires that logos and symbols used by NSA chapters must be compatible with and approved by the national Association. If your chapter undergoes a new logo design, please send a draft of the logo to headquarters prior to finalizing it.

Standards for Supplier Partners, Sponsors and Non-Members

No form of the NSA logo may be used by any company or organization for any purpose without the prior expressed written approval from the National Speakers Association. NSA can provide supplier partners and sponsors with a special logo variation upon request. Permission to use the logo variation is not in any way an indication of endorsement of the product on which the logo appears. Individuals enrolled in the Academy for Professional Speaking or in chapter affiliate or candidate programs are prohibited from using any form of the NSA logo on their personal materials.

    Questions About Logo Use

Questions regarding the proper use of the NSA logo should be directed to the headquarters office of the National Speakers Association at 480-968-2552 or information@nsaspeaker.org. NSA reserves the right to cancel or prohibit the use of its logo to any chapter or member who violates this policy. In the event legal action becomes necessary to enforce its trademark rights, NSA will seek damages and attorney's fees from anyone who utilized its trademark in an unauthorized manner.
