NSA Community Behaviors
NSA Community Behaviors
NSA stands apart from many other organizations because our members work hard to create and maintain a sense of camaraderie and sharing within the organization. The following community behaviors exemplify “the spirit of Cavett” on which NSA was founded. By aspiring to represent these behaviors, our members continue the spirit of Cavett.
• SERVING, evidenced by such behaviors as…
mentoring; offering advice and assistance to other members without expectation of personal gain; “incredible sharing;”
serving NSA or chapter by volunteering time and talents;
responding positively to questions and reasonable requests from other members;
presenting programs in which you share the secrets of your success and/or mistakes to avoid;
supporting NSA Foundation with attendance at functions and financial contributions.
• BEING AUTHENTIC, evidenced by such behaviors as…
being truthful in your conversations about your business;
aligning your words and actions with your true intent;
being a living example of what you teach;
showing genuine interest in people with whom you interact;
keeping your word, doing what you say you will do.
• ENCOURAGING, evidenced by such behaviors as…
looking for each person’s strengths and focusing on them;
verbally affirming a the talents, progress, efforts, and accomplishments of others;
showing genuine enthusiasm for the contributions of others;
empathizing and supporting others during slow times and setbacks;
celebrating milestones with fellow members.
• TAKING INTERPERSONAL INITIATIVE, evidenced by such behaviors as…
actively looking for people you have not met, particularly VIP’s (first timers) and those who look lost or alone;
introducing yourself and getting to know them in a sincere conversation;
listening to their experiences and challenges;
asking VIP’s if they have any questions about the organization, either answering their questions or connecting them with those who can;
introducing others to people with common interests or resources for the challenges they are facing.
• INCLUDING OTHERS, as evidenced by such behaviors as…
showing respect for all people through positive nonverbal and verbal communication;
inviting a nearby person into a conversation;
going outside one’s own friendship circles to invite people with various skills and backgrounds to participate and serve;
sharing NSA historical events and “insider information” with VIP’s when session speakers’ comments reference such info;
inviting new acquaintances to join you for coffee, a meal, or a program in which you are both interested.
